This hour-long panel discussion will pick the brilliant minds of some of today’s most active and exciting artists and talk to them about how they use public space (both legally and otherwise) to create dialogue, display their work, and enliven the streets of Philadelphia.

Our favorite Philadelphia street art blog is turning 4. Everything you never knew you needed to know about the street art scene and more is housed at Streets Dept, home base for Conrad Benner’s infectious zest for all things Philly.
To celebrate his 4 year anniversary, he’s hooked up with the LEGENDARY Stikman to give away 10 limited-edition calendars via an Instagram contest.
Here’s how you can win one of your very own Stikman Calendars:
1) Follow Streets Dept on Instagram HERE.
2) Take a photo of a Stikman installation and hashtag it #StreetsDeptStikman. (His work is ALL over Philadelphia, and in countless cities around the world, for readers outside of Philly.)
Giveaway ends Sunday, January 25th at Midnight EST… That gives you a week, if you’d like to enter! All 10 winners will be notified by Instagram direct message.
The Visit Philly campaign posters aren’t so bad – they just don’t always read as my version of Philly. If I didn’t look close enough, I’d think they’d finally gotten hipper and more in tuned to the city’s vibe. But I should have known…that’s what’s so fun about Kid Hazo’s work, you really have to be observant to catch the joke.
Our favorite Philly Art Blogger & photographer was first on the scene (as usual). He gave a really great breakdown of Hazo’s Dear Street Art Lovers Poster:
“In case you need a little help cracking the ‘Dear Street Art Lovers’ one: We got Tagged Up Elephants (Cornbread), Sticker Characters (The Sticky Bandits), Black and white paper cut outs (Joe Burochow), Yarn bombed stuff (Ishknits) , stick dudes (Stikman), Mythical Animal Murals (NoseGo), Braille Art (Sonia and Austin), Conspiracy Street tiles (Toynbee Tiles) AND Ben Franklin wheat paste stencily janws (Get Up Art).”
You can find these new installs around Chestnut Street between Broad and 18th.

Conrad Brenner, creator of the popular street art blog, Streets Dept will be hosting a TEDxWalk this Saturday as part of TEDxPhiladelphia 2014. The tour will highlight standout public art from internationally renown artists like: Vhils, Gaia and Kenny Scharf – to name a few. According to Brenner the tour will start in Midtown Village, followed by a ride on the Market-Frankford El to Fishtown where we will see the work of a several prominent local artists.
There’s no bigger cheerleader for Philadelphia Street Art than Brenner, with him at the helm I’m confident this walk will be an enthusiastic dig deeper into Philly’s public art scene. Unfortunately, last time I checked both the first walk & encore walk were SOLD OUT. I’ll give you the link anyway – who knows maybe you’ll get lucky and they’ll add another.
I’ll be taking to Instagram (@hahamag) during the tour for those of you who can’t be in Philly for this. Though I can’t promise my photos will make up for missing Brenner’s witty repartee.
